Tuesday night recap

Ok so this is going on late I know, sorry but it's been a busy evening for the C&W.

Obviously tonight's big story is the TSG presidential candidate debate at J and H. We're halfway through our analysis, and TU Action currently leads TU Dream Team by a score of 4 to 3.5, with one point up in the air to be determined by the poll at the top of the page. Check out the analysis on the post below this one.

In other big news, a Temple University journalism student is making quite a splash in the local news. Shannon McDonald, via her Multimedia Urban Reporting Lab(MURAL, the equivilant of a capstone for journos), quoted a local Philly cop, William Thrasher, making racist remarks during a recent ride-along. Thrasher is quoted as comparing black people to "animals" and some false alarm 911 calls as "typical n----- shit." The story was then picked up by philly.com and on. Writer Will Bunch, via his blog Attytood, also mused over how this is exactly the kind of journalism we can expect in the era of new media. Check out McDonald's full story here.

In other news, it was really nice out today and many students took the opportunity to, you know, go outdoors. Hooray.

In sports, Baseball lost to Vilenova 14-10 in what is deemed the "Liberty Bell Classic." Also, Dionte Christmas was named Honorable Mention All America, the first Owl to do so since Mardy Collins in 2005. Also, Lindsay Kimmel, a 6-3 sharpshooter for the women's b-ball team, is transferring to Vilenova next year after losing playing minutes this season. She will be missed, and also hated.

That's all folks.
