Back to school, back to school, to prove to your Dad you ain't no fool.

Welcome back to Temple, and the Cherry and What, for the 09-10 school year. Odds are you have bittersweet feelings about going back to school: ready to party but, well, not ready to be doing school work again. If this is the case, just refer back to your college training. Party your ass off this weekend, and worry about that shit on Monday.

SUMMER RECAP...
"So dude, didn't my tuition jump by like $5,000 or something?"

Nah, there was an effort to hold up Temple's state appropriation by a local state rep that you can check out here, but the Temple community kinda laid the smack down on him(TTimes) and now we're pretty much in the clear. If there are any problems, we'll keep you updated.

"Ok cool..so what else did I miss this summer? "

Well not too much really. There has been a lot of construction going on around campus, lots of pot holes and scaffolding everywhere. The turf field was resurfaced, or actually is being resurfaced as they still have some work to do. No official word yet but there are some rumors going around that it might be delayed a little bit into the semester.

In sports, Dionte Christmas unfortunately went undrafted (rivals.com) and wasn't too impressive in a number of NBA teams' summer leagues, so his NBA chances aren't looking to good for this year. However, Adam Dimichele, Temple's QB and pretty much only play maker for the past 3 years has been doing great with the Eagles, and despite Vick being picked up, has really uped his stock for them or another NFL team.

WELCOME WEEK
Ah yes the annual welcome week festivities, with more stuff than you can shake a stick at, but none that you want to touch with a 10 foot pole. Here is a list of everything going on, but we'll save you some time with our C&W picks:

Thursday: 10 p.m. showing of star trek at the reel.

Friday & Saturday: Temple Fest on Liacouras Walk from 1-5. There might be some free shit to be found amongst the multitude of tables trying to convince you to do something

Saturday: Work hard, Play hard by helping out with FreshServe, the annual north philly clean-up event at Geasey Field at noon, and then see The Dream and Keri Hilson fo' free at McGonigle at 10:00 p.m.

Sunday: Mitten Hall. 7:00 p.m. 100 foot banana split. Fuckin' yum.

Temple Football:
Yes, we're supposed to be pretty good this year. Yes, they say that every year. Yes, it could just be a bunch of BS again. No, it might not be. We'll find out Thursday, Sep. 3 when the Owls play VanillaNova at the Linc at 7 p.m. in the inaugural Mayor's Cup. Word has it that Mayor Nutter was supposed to flip the coin at the start of the game, but could not afford to bring a coin due to city budget cuts. Come on Owls, put a hurtin' on nova and make us believers.

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia:
The gang is coming to the Tower Theater, located at 69th and Ludlow, on September 17 to do a live version of "The Night Man Cometh." Check that, TWO SHOWINGS of the night man cometh. The first one sold out so fast that they decided to do an encore. Tickets go on sale this Friday at 10 at livenation.com, so make sure you get them fast. If you don't know what Always Sunny or the Night Man Cometh is, you probably aren't reading this blog. You also aren't reading this blog if you're Charlie, because you never learned to read.

That's all for now, we'll probably do one more post over the weekend before resuming daily postings on Monday. Take care, get drunk, and we'll see ya in the semester.
